Amalric Walter raised the art of pâte de verre to the highest level and contributed to the worldwide renown of the École de Nancy. Far from being merely a talented technician, as some have claimed, Amalric Walter was always a designer, mastering in turn the concept, the drawing, the modelling, the harmony of colours and the finishing touches. No other glassmaker from the École de Nancy has mastered the entire process as he did, from creation to the finished piece.
His inspiration, drawn from nature and femininity, gave rise to works of exquisite delicacy or, conversely, to pieces with greater contrast.
Influenced by Art Nouveau, he later embraced Art Deco, sometimes oscillating between the two styles.
