Lionel FLOCH (1895–1972) The village of Pont-Croix Oil on canvas Signed lower left 60.5 x 73 cm Originally from Quimper in Brittany, Lionel Floch was a Breton artist born in 1895 and who died in 1972. After studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he settled in Pont-l’Abbé, where he developed a body of work deeply rooted in Breton culture and landscapes. Floch is renowned for his scenes of harbours, fishermen, Breton religious processions and seascapes. His style oscillates between figurative art and a certain decorative stylisation, influenced by Art Deco and the regionalist schools.
