Description
Fernando LERIN (Spain, Barcelona 1929 – France, Paris 2016)
Abstraction
Mixed media on panel
Signed lower right and dated 88
Approx. 34 x 40.5 cm
Provenance: Jean-Pierre Bastid Collection (1937–2026)
Upon arriving in France in 1956, the young Spanish painter LERIN took part in an exhibition entitled ‘From a boundless nature to boundless painting’, which had taken place in 1953 and featured Frédéric Benrath, René Duvillier, Pierre Graziani, René Laubiès, Marcelle Loubchansky and Nasser Assar. The term ‘Nuagisme’ began to be used.
Fernando Lerin’s work would be associated with this movement, and this direction within Informel painting would become the terrain on which the painter would carve out his own distinctive path.
