Description
Ivan MESSAC (born in 1948 in Caen) PARIS-EST Rare colour lithograph Signed lower right Numbered 4/30 and inscribed “For JP Bastid, with best regards” 50.5 x 66 cm Provenance: Jean-Pierre Bastid Collection (1937–2026) Ivan Messac was the youngest of the artists associated with the Narrative Figuration movement. He was nevertheless associated with this movement and took part in numerous art events such as the Paris Biennale and Sigma in Bordeaux. He created numerous sets and costumes. His works draw inspiration from Pop Art, Italian Futurism and Mayakovsky, as well as from Jimi Hendrix and Hollywood icons. Public commissions have enabled him to expand his artistic output. In the 2000s, Ivan Messac returned to painting, adopting – as in his early works – a critical perspective on his own era. Since 2003, his paintings have been featured in various exhibitions dedicated to narrative figurative art (at the museums in Dôle and Orléans), as well as in art galleries.
