After Jules Aimé DALOU (1838–1902) Monument to Jean Leclaire Bronze cast with a brown patina on a sea-green marble plinth Total height: 42 – Width: 16.5 – Depth: 15 cm Signed ‘Dalou’ and bearing the foundry mark ‘Fumière et Cie’ Signs of wear and scuff marks on the marble Bibliography: Amélie Simier, *Jules Dalou, sculpteur de la République*, Paris-Musée 2013; monument described on page 137. In 1895, the architect Formigé, who had collaborated with Dalou on several occasions, proposed that he sculpt the monument which the workers of a painting firm wished to erect in memory of their former employer, funded by public subscription. In 1896, the monument was unveiled on 1 November in the presence of the sculptor. H: 42 cm
