Description
Workshop of Louis MAJORELLE (1859–1926) A rectangular veneered wooden secretary desk resting on four legs joined by a crossbar, opening via a central flap that forms a writing surface. It is decorated with a cartouche containing stylised flowers in marquetry of various woods and mother-of-pearl inlay, revealing compartments and two storage drawers. The flap is flanked by two compartments resting on two drawers. The handles are in silver-plated metal. Stamped ‘MAJORELLE Nancy’ with a mother-of-pearl shell motif on the right-hand short side.
