GEWES (GERMANY) A tabletop clock in stained wood with gilded bronze ornamentation. The front opens to reveal a glass door, behind which lies a dial featuring both Roman and Arabic numerals. The dial is signed “GEWES” and surmounted by the inscription “Tempus fugit” (“Time flies”). The side panels feature a male mask, and the arched pediment is decorated with pine cones.
