Remi Without a Family
Production celluloid in Indian ink and acrylic, with a matching printed background showing Remi on the right, Vitalis in the centre and Capi, the white dog from Vitalis’s troupe. Vitalis is the man who bought Rémi when his adoptive mother’s husband went bankrupt and decided to secretly sell Rémi, who was only eight years old at the time. Vitalis becomes Rémi’s spiritual father, teaching him to sing, play music, read and write. Together they travel the roads of France, putting on shows with their troupe of animals; this journey is marked by moments of happiness but also by great tragedy.
