DIAMOND AND RUBY DOUBLE CLIP, HENRY PICQ, France, ca. 1930/40
Platinum, brooch finding white gold 750, 33g.
Magnificent Art-Déco double clip set with circular- and brilliant-cut diamonds totalling ca. 7.0 ct, diamond baguettes weighing ca. 2.2 ct, and round and oval rubies totalling ca. 5.0 ct. French platinum assay mark, maker’s mark HP with spade symbol, and indistinct serial number, probably 1911. Ca. 6.0 × 2.5 cm.
Henry Picq worked for Cartier, Lacloche and Ostertag. He was responsible for Cartier’s finest platinum work and created many of the house’s iconic Tutti Frutti jewels.
