BURMA RUBY AND DIAMOND BROOCH, 2nd half of the 19th century
Lower part yellow gold 750, stone settings silver 970, 21g.
Very attractive brooch designed as a fleur-de-lis, decorated with oval, cushion-shaped and round rubies totalling ca. 2.0 ct, Burma, unheated, and decorated with circular-cut diamonds totalling ca. 7.0 ct. Rubies and diamonds of high quality. Screw mechanism at the back, probably intended to attach the brooch as an element of another jewel. Ca. 6.8 × 4.9 cm.

The fleur-de-lis motif has been regarded as a symbol of nobility since the Middle Ages and appears in the coat of arms of the Borbón y Braganza family. In the form of this historic brooch, the lily thus becomes the highlight of the collection we are privileged to present here.
