A Swiss painter from Bossonnens (canton of Fribourg), Charles Cottet was awarded the Federal Fine Arts Scholarship on three occasions (1956, 1960 and 1964) and taught at the Vevey School of Applied Arts from 1964 until his death. His work, characterised by a shift towards abstraction, is distinguished by the strength of his line and a pronounced sensitivity to colour.
