Chinese ‘Klapmuts’ bowl ‘Klapmuts’ porcelain bowl with underglaze blue decoration, Qing dynasty, Kangxi period (1662–1722). Diameter: 21 cm. Apocryphal Ming mark consisting of six characters in blue underglaze within a double circle on the underside of the base. The “Klapmuts” style, characterised by its flattened, flared rim, was primarily intended for the European export market, particularly the Dutch market, where its shape was suited to the consumption of thick broths. This lot comes from the collection of the London dealer Geoffrey Waters, as indicated by the label preserved beneath the base. Sold with a detachable stand.
