DIOR, Collection "Diorette - Jardins de Milly la Forêt" Yellow gold 750‰ cocktail ring centred with an oval faceted amethyst in a rich surround of flowers, ladybird and butterfly enhanced with polychrome enamels, some pistils set with round faceted gemstones and a brilliant-cut diamond, the setting stylising stems highlighted with translucent green enamel. Signed "Dior" and numbered "E0482". French work, diamond hallmark. Finger size: 53. Width: 3.3cm. P. Gross weight: 31.6 g. (Very small cracks in the enamel, slight chips). With a jewellery box. Victoire de CASTELLANE was appointed artistic director of DIOR Haute Joaillerie in 1998. On the initiative of Bernard Arnault, the House chose a designer capable of infusing Dior with a younger, more contemporary image. As soon as she arrived, Victoire de Castellane broke with the traditional aesthetic of Dior jewellery by proposing a freer, more poetic and offbeat approach. The Diorette Milly-la-Forêt collection, named after the village where Christian Dior owned an estate, was her first as head of Dior jewellery. Inspired by the garden theme so dear to Dior, she took a whimsical twist on the codes: naïve flowers, colourful insects and plant elements were superimposed in exuberant compositions. The designer plays with unexpected and daring combinations, combining freshness, humour and creative freedom. This cocktail ring stands out for its spectacular volume. Victoire de Castellane's taste for disproportion stems from her childhood memories of trying on the sparkling, oversized rings worn by the women in her family. Through her creations, the designer creates a world that is at once luxurious, poetic and mischievous, where high jewellery ceases to be solemn and becomes a refined, dreamy playground.
