Description
A chain and its pear-shaped pendant in platinum, set with a 1.73-carat pear-cut diamond. Gross weight: 5.1 g. Certificate from the French Gemmological Laboratory dated 04/06/26 certifying a weight of 1.73 carats, colour D and clarity VVS2, Type IIa. Note: Type IIa diamonds, which can be detected using an infrared spectrometer, contain no nitrogen and have high thermal conductivity. Approximately 2 per cent of the world’s diamonds fall into this category; they were generally extracted from shallow mines. The most famous examples are the Cullinan and the Koh-i-noor. This extremely rare category of diamonds is comparable to those produced in the Golconda mines, from which the finest stones were extracted; these mines were in operation from 1724 to 1948 and, until the 19th century, were—along with Borneo—the only sources of diamonds.
