GUINEA - BAGA Shoulder mask, Goddess Nimba Carved wood with a brown patina, and metal Depicting a large, bell-shaped female bust resting on four feet, with a convex head, a prominent nose and drooping breasts. The whole is embellished in places with metal plates studded with nails and incised with geometric designs. Circa 1950–1970 Height: 190 cm (patina showing signs of wear) The goddess Nimba symbolises the fertility of the land and the fertility of women.
