Abel Pfeffermann PANN received his religious education at the Heder. From the age of twelve, he learnt the basics of drawing and painting from the painter Yehuda Penn of Vitebsk, who was also the teacher of Marc Chagall and Ossip Zadkine. During the war, Pann devoted himself to creating posters and paintings urging people to fight and bearing witness to the horrors of the German occupation.
