[HEBREW BIBLE] Complete Hebrew Bible. Paris, Robert Estienne, 1544–1546. 8 in-16 volumes in a cloth-covered box, ribbed spines, full calfskin bindings, covers decorated with gilt fillets, gilt edges. This copy contains all twenty-four parts of the Hebrew biblical canon. According to Renouard, it constitutes ‘a typographical gem, and perhaps the most beautiful work ever printed in the Hebrew language’ (Annales de l’Imprimerie des Estienne, ou Histoire de la famille des Estienne et de ses éditions. Paris, J. Renouard 1837). A composite binding comprising six volumes with identical bindings and two very similar volumes. (Some minor restoration to the bindings.
