Complete collection of the 85 issues of this anti-Dreyfusard satirical weekly newspaper published by the painter Jean-Louis Forain (1852–1931) and the cartoonist Caran d’Ache (1859–1909). It appeared from 5 February 1898, the start of Émile Zola’s trial, until 16 September 1899, when Dreyfus was granted a presidential pardon. Each issue consists of two leaves illustrated with black-and-white caricatures by the two artists. According to Bertrand Tillier, in *Les artistes et l’affaire Dreyfus: 1898–1908*: ‘Forain and Caran d’Ache already possessed a wealth of experience with the visual image and its unique qualities… The subtitle of *Psst…!* praised […] the collaboration of two cartoonists as experienced as they were renowned […] and whilst it also emphasised the exclusivity of the images, it highlighted the complementary nature of Forain’s styles and approaches (‘bitter irony, the piercing line, the biting caption’) on the one hand, and Caran d’Ache’s (‘current affairs rendered in picturesque images, when not treated in the manner of a painting’) on the other. Indeed, *Psst…!* sought to reconcile two graphic worlds, two satirical tones and two visions of the Dreyfus Affair, which were united by anti-Semitic, xenophobic, anti-German, Catholic, nationalist, militarist, anti-republican, anti-naturalist and anti-Zola views. ’ (Les artistes et l’affaire Dreyfus: 1898–1908, Champ Vallon, 2009, pp. 199–200).
