Description
A round bronze medal, fitted with a loop. Featuring the effigy of Marianne, ‘souvenir des Tuileries’; the reverse bears the inscription ‘Metal found in the ruins of the Tuileries, founded in the year 1564 and destroyed by fire on 24 May 1871. No. 2453’. Engraved by Paul Lecreux, known as Jacques France, and A. Picart, circa 1871. Numbered 2279. Diameter 7 cm. Wear to the patina. One example of this medal is held at the Carnavalet Museum.
