In-8, early 20th-century binding in brown percaline, 348 pp. First edition of this classic work on hunting with hounds, which the author describes as ‘small-scale’ in comparison with the grand feudal and royal hunts. It describes the hunting of wolves, hares, red deer, fallow deer, roe deer, wild boar, foxes, badgers, rabbits, otters and squirrels. The book concludes with a glossary of hunting terms. Illustrated with a lithographed frontispiece (a hunting dog) based on a work by Horace Vernet. A fine copy, from the Baronci hunting library in Florence (wet stamp). A few foxing spots.
