SALNOVE (R. de). La vénerie royale. Paris, Nourry, 1929. In-4, modern binding in black half-calf, ribbed spine, cloth covers, 298 pp. A reprint, as part of the ‘Les maîtres de la vénerie’ collection, of this text originally published in 1655. Salnove, Lieutenant of the French Wolf Hunt, gained extensive experience of royal hunting whilst serving under Henry IV and Louis XIII. He describes the pursuit of the stag, hare, roe deer, wild boar, wolf and fox. Includes a dictionary of hunting and hunting terminology. Bio-bibliographical note by G. de Marolles.
