Records of Sport in Southern India Chiefly on the Annamullay, Nielgherry and Pulney Mountains, also including Notes on Singapore, Java and Labuan, from Journals written between 1844 and 1870. London, Porter, 1892. Quarto, publisher’s illustrated cardboard binding, gilt title, 284 pp. First edition of General D. Hamilton’s hunting memoirs from India and Indonesia; he was one of the most famous hunters in the Indian Army. Illustrated with a photographic portrait and numerous black-and-white illustrations. Not previously published in French. Good condition. Slight foxing, spines split, cardboard cover rubbed. - KINLOCH (A. A. A.). *Large Game Shooting in Tibet, the Himalayas, Northern & Central India*. Camden, Culler, 1995. In-4, publisher’s binding in blue calfskin, gilt decoration on the front cover, ribbed spine adorned with a gilt motif, gilt edges, slipcase. Reprint of the 1892 edition of the author’s hunting accounts—he was an officer in the Indian Army—organised by game species: yak, thar, goral, deer, tiger, bear, elephant, etc., illustrated with black-and-white plates.
