London, Longmans & Green, 1909. 8vo, publisher’s cloth binding, 476 pp. An early edition (the original was published in 1907) of this legendary novel recounting the author’s adventures with his dog, a Staffordshire bull terrier, across the Transvaal. Charming marginal illustrations on every page and several plates by E. Caldwell. A fine copy. Gold-stamped sketch of the dog and antelope’s head on the cardboard cover, very slightly scuffed. - POTOCKI (J.) *Sport in Somaliland. Being an Account of a Hunting Trip to that Region*. Camden, Briar Patch, 1988. Quarto, publisher’s binding in brown shagreen, gilt decoration on the front cover, ribbed spine adorned with gilt hunting motifs, 136 pp. Reprint of the 1900 English edition of Count Joseph Potocki’s hunting expedition to Somalia in 1895–1896.
