In-4, contemporary binding in black half-shagreen with corner pieces, ribbed spine, 610 pp. First American edition of the first work illustrated with chromolithographs. These 10 chromolithographs depict hunting scenes in America and Africa: bison, bears, wild horses hunted by Native Americans, elephants and buffalo, etc. Illustrated with woodcuts, including 2 inset plates. Two chapters are devoted to Audubon. Unpublished in French. Good condition. Slight foxing and very faint old water stains. Caps and corners restored.
