Memoirs and anecdotes by Jules Gérard, a lieutenant in the Spahis and Algeria’s most famous hunter, who was fascinated by the Atlas lion, including accounts of hunting leopards, hyenas, wild boar, jackals, antelopes, etc. One chapter deals with falconry in Africa. Illustrated with a portrait of the author as a frontispiece, a woodcut based on a drawing by A. de Neuville, and beautiful woodcut plates based on drawings by Gustave Doré.
