Description
by FOUILLOUX (Jacques). *La Vènerie*. No place, no publisher; probably third edition, Poitiers, undated [1566]. One volume, 8vo, full binding. Ex-libris of the Count of Douglas at the Château de Montréal (Ain). Illustrated with engraved plates within the text. Corners worn, covers scuffed. Foxing and water stains. Incomplete; the frontispiece and title page are missing. Included: FRANCHIERES. (Jehan de)) – *La Fauconnerie*, compiled from the works of M. Martino, Molopin, Michelin & Aimé Casian, together with another treatise on falconry by Guillaume Tardif, of Le Puy-en-Velay. Plus the bird-keeping treatise by Messire Artelouche d’Alagona, Lord of Mauraueques. Furthermore, a compendium of all birds of prey used in falconry and bird-keeping. Poitiers, Enguilbert de Marnef, and the Bouchetz brothers, 1567. One volume, 8vo, full binding, spine with five raised bands, red title label. Corners worn, covers rubbed, hinge cracked, fore-edges torn. Foxing, damage and repairs to the first few pages. Probable missing pages. The two works by Franchières and Du Fouilloux could be sold separately in 1567; it was only from the 1585 Paris edition onwards that DU FOUILLOUX was always followed by Franchières’s works on falconry and others.
