Description
JOURDEUIL (E.). Hunting the Woodcock. Dijon, Librairie Lamarche, 1892. In-12, paperback, 112 pp. Second edition, partly in the original form, printed in a run of only 531 copies. A marvellous little volume on the woodcock, skilfully written by the Burgundian Jourdeuil, drawing on his vast experience and numerous observations. A hop grower in Beire-le-Chatel (Côte-d’Or), Jourdeuil is regarded as one of France’s leading woodcock experts. This edition has been expanded to include a preface and a chapter on woodcock cuisine, written by Cunisset-Carnot. Paul Cunisset (1849–1919), a member of the Côte-d’Or General Council, who had married the daughter of President Sadi Carnot, published numerous books on hunting. A very fine copy on tinted paper. A wet stamp on the half-title page. The spine is split with a significant loss. Expert: Mr Cédric De FOUGEROLLE
