Paris, Levrault, 1810. 8vo, later bottle-green half-shagreen, spine decorated with gilt faux-ribbing, 390 pp. First edition of this imitation of *L’art du valet de limier* (1784 and 1804), which became *Le parfait chasseur* in 1810. Arising from a dispute between the two Desgraviers brothers, this edition covers the hunting of red deer, fallow deer, roe deer, wild boar and wolves; dogs, their breeding and their diseases; followed by hunting rendezvous in the forests of Île-de-France, including the location of the staging posts.
