Description
Heavy cavalry breastplate 1872. Model 1872 for the troop, in steel, riveted leather straps with brass chains held by two buckles. Original leather belt with damage to the right-hand rivets. The back bears the markings of an illegible manufacturer, the date 1877 and the markings 2nd size, extra width number 2, serial number illegible. The ventral part has the marking Manufacture d'armes de Châtellerault juillet 1886, 2ème taille, largeur extra numéro 1, matricule 12111. The ventral part bears the number 738 and the dorsal part the number 851. Formerly varnished with a slight difference in size between the two parts. Heavy cavalry cuirass 1872. Model 1872 for troop use, made of steel with leather shoulder straps riveted to brass chain links held by two fastening buckles. Original leather waist belt damaged at the rightside rivet attachment points. The back plate bears an illegible manufacturer's mark and the date 1877 together with the marking 2nd size extra width number 2 and an illegible serial number. The front plate is marked Manufacture d'armes de Châtellerault July 1886 2nd size extra width number 1 serial number 12111. The front plate bears the number 738 and the back plate the number 851.
