Description
Fully engraved USM1 rifle stock that belonged to Lieutenant-Colonel Huguet. Robert Huguet, alias Simoun, Renard, Prince and Le Duc, joined the Resistance very quickly and, from 1 November 1940, served as a P.1 agent in the SR Kléber Central network. Over the course of the war, he joined various Resistance networks, including Libération Sud, Armée Secrète and Mouvement Unis de Resistance. At the end of 43, he became departmental leader of the maquis for the MUR in Puy-de-Dôme. He became regional leader of the Auvergne maquis in May 1944, under the pseudonym Colonel Prince, and began to regroup all the maquis with a view to concentrating them in the Cantal. He organised the Margeride unit commanded by Emile Coulandon and took an active part in the fighting at Mont Mouchet in June 1944. After the breakout at Chaudes-Aigues on 20 June 1944, during which he distinguished himself by his courage and conduct, Robert Huguet was promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel by General Koenig, commander of the FFI. Huguet was wounded in the arm during the war and escaped several times. By decree of 17 November 1945, Robert Huguet became a Companion of the Liberation. The stock is a standard model, with factory markings NPM FJA, and a TN marking on the sling loop. The following inscriptions can be seen Lt Colonel Huguet chef militaire des Maquis d'Auvergne, 19391944 as well as his code names Curtis, Simoun, Le Duc and Prince. Stock with a chip at the breech.
