Description
Indochina artillery observation group set. This exceptional set belonged to Pierre Niney and includes a number of documents, including six relating to the Naval Medical Corps School where he began his military career in 1936, as well as ten documents relating to his time as an assistant in Group 4 of the Chantiers de Jeunesse and his blank individual record book for the class of 1940. After a spell in the Resistance with the Corps Franc Pommiès, he was drafted into the 10th RAC in 1945 and left for Indochina in 1946. His certificate of membership of the FFI, dated June 1949, and various documents confirming his presence in the Far East during his time in the Vaicos sector are on display. His commendation in the army order awarded to the divisional artillery of the 3rd DIC as well as a commendation in the army order when he was a lieutenant in the 22nd GAOA and took part in missions in 1950 in Ap La Bang, a second commendation for missions carried out from 1950 to 1951 in Tonkin, a normal army corps commendation for operations carried out in 1952, his diploma of the colonial medal awarded in 1947 within the 4th RAC as a second lieutenant. Pierre Niney continued his career in Algeria and received a citation for his military valour cross when he was with the 2nd PMAH. His Algerian War commemorative diploma completes the set. His fabric insignia, including ten artillery observation group arm lozenges, four pairs of collar tabs, eight eighth division insignia, two embroidered Rhine and Danube insignia, the tricolour insignia he wore in the Pommiès free corps, two pairs of Lieutenant Colonel epaulettes and a breast rank, and four decoration reminders. His metal badges, including his Drago Metra artillery observer's licence numbered 105, a second Drago Metra licence numbered 12, various beret badges, his aeronautics medal in its case, a badge from the first aircraft platoon of the 12th Infantry Division, a cabinet of decorations including his Légion d'Honneur, his TOE war cross with three palms and two stars, his military valour with two palms and one star. An album containing around thirty photos, including seven taken during youth work camps and twelve taken during the Indochina War. His paper diploma of observer's licence number 114 awarded in 1949 in his tube. His Légion d'Honneur officer's diploma dated 1963 in an incomplete tube. His diploma of the Légion d'Honneur in the grade of chevalier dated 1958 in its tube and his diploma of the medal of aeronautics awarded in 1964. His brown leather card holder containing six flight logs, the first of which was opened in August 1949 until August 1951, the second from August 1951 until May 1955, the third from May 1955 to January 1956, the fourth from 1956 to 1961, the fifth an individual air service log opened in October 1961 until 1970 and the last from 1971 to 1972. A leather pouch containing some fifteen photo cards and photographs as well as various pay slips and civilian documents, a Baumholder camp sector flight card and two service record cards.
