Memento of Captain Deroja, of the 3rd Voltigeurs of the Imperial Guard. Comprising: - Imperial Guard officer’s sabre, 1860 model. Chiselled brass mountings. Pommel featuring an eagle; crossguard in the shape of a thunderbolt with the letter ‘N’ in the centre; and a straight guard with an acanthus leaf motif. Guard featuring the large imperial coat of arms and a pomp-style counter-guard marked ‘DELACOUR FBT DE L’EMPEREUR A PARIS’. Blackened horn hilt (filigree missing). Straight blade from the Châtellerault factory, triangular in cross-section, marked ‘Capitaine Deroja, of the 3rd Voltigeur of the Imperial Guard’. Scabbard missing. Total length: 96 cm. France, Second Empire period. - Officer’s sabre of the Vincennes Chasseurs. Bronze mountings. Oval pommel with a long tail, decorated with lines and a laurel wreath. Joint ring pierced to allow the sword strap to pass through, from which two branches extend to form the shell, decorated with a laurel wreath against a background of four pennants and stars. Curved crossguard decorated with a star motif. Horn pommel, filigree missing. Curved blade by ‘Coulaux’ in Klingenthal; engraved ‘Deroja, Captain of the 3rd Battalion of Foot Chasseurs’ Scabbard missing. Total length 90 cm. France, Second Empire period. -Straight sabre for senior officers, Model 1855. Bronze mountings: chiselled crown on the pommel, filleted crossguard, openwork guard plate with floral decoration, teardrop-shaped crossguard. Horn hilt, filigree missing. Straight blade with two fuller grooves, marked ‘Solingen’ and ‘Of SUPERIEUR M 1855’. Iron scabbard with two bands and suspension rings. Oxidation. Total length: 102 cm. France, Third Republic period.
