Description
A lady’s desk in blackened wood inlaid with gilded brass, decorated with foliage scrolls and interlacing motifs against a red tortoiseshell background in the Boulle style. It rests on four curved legs and opens via a drawer running along the base. The recessed upper section features two drawers at the top, finished with a brass moulding. A drop-down writing surface reveals three small drawers. Rich ornamentation of chiselled and gilded bronze, including finials with terma motifs. Napoleon III period. H: 118 cm – W: 80 – D: 53 cm – In good overall condition, with very slight imperfections, including a foot that needs reattaching. Provenance: sale of 21 November 1982, Maître J-P Osenat.
