Description
A spoon engraved with the coat of arms of Viscount François René de Châteaubriand (1768-1848) and his wife Céleste Buisson de La Vigne (1774-1847). Silver, fillet pattern, handle engraved with the arms of the alliance surrounded by palms and surmounted by a count's crown (wear).
Hallmark 1, large guarantee, Paris 1809-1819. Hallmark of Charles Joachim Benjamin Dallemagne, goldsmith in Paris from 1786 to 1822.
Length: 21.8 cm; Weight: 92 g
A.B.E. Restoration period, circa 1814-1815.
History
The identity of the silversmith, combined with the fact that the engraving on this coin does not bear the ornaments of a pair de France, means that it predates his appointment to the Chambre des Pairs on 17 August 1815.
