Painted with the coat of arms of the Farnese and Medici families.
Probably commissioned by the aristocracy in connection with a matrimonial alliance between the houses of Farnese and Medici, this cassapanca features the coats of arms of the two families, combined in heraldic decoration. It could refer to the 1628 marriage between Odoardo Farnese and Marguerite de Medici, an important union in the interplay of Italian princely alliances in the 17th century.
