Description
A BEAUTIFUL officer's sword, circa 1760. Swedish-style gilt brass mounting with striated decoration, having well preserved its gilding, probably French. Silver and gilt brass filigree spindle with two later rings decorated with friezes. Melon-ribbed pommel. Single-branch hilt with two inverted quillons, donkey step and asymmetrical shell. Vintage tie in red cloth. Strong blade with median edge, partly gilded, decorated with rocaille, trophy, laurel wreath and Masonic eye or vigilance. Length: 100cm. Good condition. S.F. circa 1760. Provenance: former Pierre Jarlier collection.
