Description
KUBA, Democratic Republic of Congo. Hardwood, iron, patina of use. Two "Ikul" ceremonial knives with a foliate iron blade with a central rib and a wooden handle with a bulbous bulge for a better grip. The Ikul was worn by men as a symbol of prestige and authority and was part of the daily costume of a man of the Kuba nobility. Circa 1930. L. 32.5 cm and 36 cm.
