A lidded soup tureen and its vermeil stand; the tureen stands on a round pedestal decorated with pearl and gadroons mouldings, a frieze of engraved ivy leaves, and two partially fluted handles chiselled with acanthus leaves; the plain lid with a domed rim edged with a cord moulding, the handle in the shape of a pine cone; the plain stand decorated with pearl and cord mouldings Strasbourg, 1798–1909 Beneath the soup tureen stand: inscription ‘The town of Besançon, presented by Mr A.L. Daclin, its Mayor, to Miss Féréol J.L.E. de Bry, born on 9 November 1810’ Weight: 1.080 kg Diameter: 22.8 cm (display stand). Length including handles: 20.1 cm.
