A substantial set of silver, steel and ivory cutlery
In a wooden case with four trays, comprising:
- tray 1: 22 forks, 24 spoons in 950/1000 silver
- tray 2: 18 knives in steel and ivory, a leg-of-lamb carving set in steel and ivory, and 18 knives in 950/1000 silver and ivory
- tray 3: one ladle, 12 teaspoons, 18 spoons and 18 forks, all in 950/1000 silver
- tray 4: 18 steel knives with ivory handles engraved ‘Touron Parisot Successeur, gold medal at the 1867 Exhibition, 24 Rue de la Paix, Paris’, two confectionery sets in 950/1000 silver with ivory handles
Master’s hallmarks of Pierre Queillé (active in Paris between 1847 and 1895) and of Parisot and Gallois (active in Paris between 1865 and 1895).

The case, signed ‘Touron, 24 rue de la Paix, Paris’, with brass handles and its key. Bearing the Ricot initials – Nicolas; according to family tradition, the cutlery set was commissioned for the 1873 marriage of Marcel Nicolas and Madeleine Ricot.
Note: This cutlery set is not part of the Besançon Collection due to be sold on 19 September, and comes from another private collection.
