CHAUMET, ‘Nouveaux Regards’ collection, c. 1987 Stone fragment, engraved with a female profile, featuring inclusions of a partially enamelled feather and an 18-carat gold (750/1000) buckle, the upper end set with diamonds, on a marble plinth signed on a small plaque at the back ‘Chaumet Paris’ Total height 29 cm, length 21 cm Weight 3.535 kg (including plinth) House hallmarks and eagle heads In 1984, Chaumet’s artistic director, René Morin, conceived a collection of objects entitled “Les Nouveaux Regards”: these creations were crafted from twenty-seven fragments originating from various civilisations: Ancient Egypt, Greece, Persia, the Khmer Empire, Mexico and the Ashanti Kingdom. René Morin gave them a new identity by setting them in gold and precious stones. Provenance: Private collection, Besançon
