Description
CERVANTES (Miguel de) Paris, Delongchamps, 1825. The Story of the Admirable Don Quixote of La Mancha. 6 vols. in-8 (20.6 x 12.5 cm), caramel-coloured calfskin, with a decorative frame design on the covers and a large central diamond embossed in relief, enhanced with gilt dots and smoke-black fillets, spine with raised bands decorated with gilt motifs, brown title and volume number labels, pebbled edges (Brigandat). 6 etched frontispieces after Devéria. The first volume is preceded by a *Geographical Vocabulary of Spain and Portugal*, followed by an *Itinerary of these two kingdoms* by Depping (Paris: Guillaume, Masson, 1823). This volume is illustrated with a large copper-engraved map, enhanced with watercolour and folded. Bindings slightly worn: spines rubbed, some split, corners blunt, chips to the caps. Some slight foxing. Provenance: Duke of Mouchy (heraldic bookplate, with library call number).
