Folk Chants and Songs of France. 3 vols. in-4 (27.7 x 17.8 cm), red half-shagreen with corner pieces, ribbed spine decorated with embossed borders, untrimmed (contemporary binding). ‘An admirable publication […], one of the finest of the nineteenth century; it is rightly held in high esteem and can be compared to the beautiful illustrated books of the eighteenth century’ (Carteret). The pages containing the lyrics are finely illustrated and engraved on steel. Bookseller’s label ‘La Bibliofila’ in Milan. Spines very slightly rubbed, corners blunt.
