FONTENELLE (Bernard de) The Hague, Gosse & Neaulme, 1728–1729. Miscellaneous Works 3 vols. folio (36.7 x 23.5 cm) in fawn calfskin, with three cold-stamped fillets framing the covers; ribbed spine decorated with gilt motifs (contemporary binding). Title page, frontispiece, 3 title vignettes, 4 full-page plates and 179 headpieces and tailpieces, all engraved on copper by Picart. A fine copy printed on large-format paper, reprinted in folio format, with the text set within a typographical frame. Joints restored in the past, two of which have been re-split; cap bands worn; corners blunt. Small marginal tears repaired in the past, very slight foxing.
