FRANCE (Anatole) Paris, Calmann-Lévy, 1925–1935.. Complete Works. 25 vols. in-4, aubergine half-shagreen with corner pieces, ribbed spine, gilt head, covers and spine preserved (bound by P. Baillot). An illustrated edition featuring a drypoint portrait of Anatole France by Chahine and 748 woodcuts by Maxime Dethomas within the text (sometimes full-page). The continuation of the illustrations on Chinese paper has been bound opposite the plates. Chahine’s portrait is also included as a duplicate print (one of which is on Japanese paper). Limited edition of 1,500 numbered copies (no. 1,328). Spine and corners slightly rubbed; a few snags on the endpapers.
