Description
LA HARPE (Jean-François de) Paris, Ledentu, 1825. A Summary of the General History of Travels. 23 (of 24) in-8 vols. and 1 folio-sized atlas vol., red half-maroquin with corner pieces, ribbed spine decorated with gilt motifs, entirely untrimmed (Purgold). The Atlas contains 15 copper-engraved maps enhanced with watercolours, 11 of which are folded. A contemporary handwritten note indicates that this is the first of only two copies printed on large-size vellum paper (a claim confirmed by Brunet). Volume 24 is missing. Bindings slightly rubbed, with some damage to the spine of the Atlas. A few foxing spots and slight traces of damp. Bibliography: Brunet, III, col. 771.
