3 vols. in-8 (20.2 × 12.2 cm), midnight blue long-grain morocco, framed by three gilt fillets on the covers and a gilt monogram in the centre of the upper covers, plain spine decorated with gilt motifs, gilt edges (contemporary binding).
3 lithographed portraits as frontispieces, one lithographed facsimile.
This copy comes from the library of Anatole Demidoff (1812–1870), a diplomat, industrialist and collector of Russian art. He married Princess Mathilde in 1840.
A fine copy bearing the crowned initials ‘P. D.’ in gold in the centre of the upper covers (probably Pavel Demidoff, Anatole Demidoff’s brother).
Bindings slightly rubbed, particularly at the corners and joints. Foxing.
