PAIR OF LARGE FOUR-ARMED SILVER CANDLESTICKS
By Jean Baptiste Gustave Odiot, Paris, c. 1860
The base is adorned with friezes of laurel foliage and crossed ribbons, resting on three button-shaped feet, the lower section chiselled with channels adorned with a medallion engraved with a coat of arms surmounted by a baron’s tortil (two medallions missing from one, one from the other); the base of the shaft is decorated with garlands of laurel leaves, featuring three panels of cascading acanthus flowers alternating with beaded panels; the bowl, decorated with a frieze of laurel leaves between two beaded bands; the rim of the bases is stamped ‘Odiot à Paris 1807’; one bowl and one candlestick base require reattachment

Bearing the coat of arms of the princely Löwenstein-Scharffeneck family. Constance von Worms (1875–1914) married Maximilian von Löwenstein-Scharffeneck (1871–1952) in Munich in 1895. They separated in 1912. Constance von Worms was the granddaughter of Schönche Rothschild, who married Benedikt Moses Worms.
