Description
PUNU Bicoque mask. 20th century. Height: 27 cm. Light wood, the face covered with a layer of weathered white kaolin and red plaster around the lips. It features a bicoque headdress. The rim of the mask bears the marks left by the numerous fine pins used to secure successive layers of masking fabric. The back of the mask reveals traces of carving with an adze. Provenance: Pierre Redouin Collection.
