Description:
An elegant Ndassa reliquary figure representing the spirit of a remarkable ancestor. This figure was attached to the bone basket via the lower part of the wooden structure. The absence of a mouth symbolises the silence that reigns in the afterlife, whilst the eyes, which stand out prominently in the round, clearly demonstrate the great power of vision attributed to the spirits of ancestors who have passed into the invisible world.
