TSOGO Statue 20th century. Height: 60 cm. An IR spectroscopy dating certificate (G. Matthaes patent) from the Museo d’Arte e Scienza, Milan, no. 6AF-3658, indicates the date 1957 ± 6 years. Light wood covered with white kaolin and a red coating on the breasts and forehead. The headdress consists of black-dyed plaits. Diamond-shaped scarifications run from the chest to the lower abdomen. A cavity on the back is designed to hold the magical charge. A raffia cord is threaded around the waist. This is likely a fertility fetish (prominent breasts and belly).
